This past weekend we headed to the beautiful countryside in Northern Italy known as ‘Monferrato’. This incredible area with its rolling hills and never-ending rows of vineyards is just as famous for it’s red wines as it is for the MoncalvoTruffle. Although this part of Italy is not new to us, this time we decided to treat ourselves and make a weekend out of it by staying at the Hotel Locanda dell’ Sant’uffizio in Cioccaro di Penango. (I’m not kidding that’s the name)
The one hour drive on the scenic windy roads gave us enough to look at that by the time we arrived we had fully left behind our city selves. The tree-lined road to our hotel was exactly as I’d imagined and the hotel itself was full of pleasant surprises, from the kindness of the staff to the delicious lunch we were served.
